Emily Rebecca Smith is a Chicago based coloratura soprano and has performed in operas and recitals in the United States, United Kingdom, and Italy. Her favorite roles have included the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, Sandrina in La finta giardiniera, and Violetta in La Traviata. She is a member of Chamber Musicians for Change, a group that partners with local organizations to raise awareness and support for social justice issues. Her stratospheric high notes have been reviewed as being so powerful “that you can feel the air vibrate like when a helicopter goes overhead!". Ms. Smith received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Master of Music degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. She currently studies with countertenor Mark Crayton and soprano Alicia Berneche.
